Off the Cuff {chronicle}

Off the Cuff {chronicle} could be the start of something new, eh? I’m overwhelmed by the goodness of God, and must share a few thoughts .. off the cuff, so to speak.

Yesterday morning - Lupine

This morning – Lupine

Many moons ago I said I would fill you in on my real life .. I’m waiting for the waiting to be over, for the ‘end’ to happen .. but God is in the waiting, and I want to share the blessings with you.

What I post on this blog is not meaningless in real life. It amazes me to see God’s timing in putting things together. The daily Bible reading and the daily hymn were not chosen to go together. The hymns are straight out of the hymnal and the Bible reading is chronological and at times random (meaning it is original).

I do not always get to read the hymn when I am on the road. But when I do, I am so blessed.

Sunday travels

A bit to fill you in .. Eleven months ago I quit my job and packed everything and moved halfway across the country (putting it in storage), with the hope of relocating where I grew up. The process has been long and slow and not very fruitful, but the blessings are many.

My stuff is still in storage, hundreds of miles from where I hope to settle. My six month house lease is up, and I am still looking for the place God has for me to live and work and worship.

Unsettled, yes.

Learning firsthand what grace looks like, yes.

I am reading the Vessels for the Master’s Use readings daily. While on the road I have not kept up with the Letters reading, but I am reading the rest. I am memorizing 2 Corinthians 11-13, and am just one heart hiding post behind. I only say this for you to see that this is real for me, not just something I send out into cyberspace.

Today's exploring

Today’s exploring

A couple of days ago the reading was Psalm 62. How precious, David’s thoughts concerning waiting upon God.

Truly, my soul waiteth on God; from him cometh my salvation.

He only is my rock and my salvation; he is my defense; I shall not be greatly moved.

My soul, wait thou only [my emphasis on only] on God; for my expectation is from him.

He only is my rock and my salvation; he is my defense; I shall not be moved.

In God is my salvation and my glory the rock of my strength; my refuge is in God.

Trust in him at all times, ye people; pour out your heart before him. God is a refuge for us. Selah.

Psalm 62:1-2; 5-8

Verse five jumped out at me because I have so many expectations, and they are mostly not of God. My expectation should only be of God .. ouch! At least that’s what I got from it.

And today’s verse Psalm 64:10:

The righteous shall be glad in the LORD, and shall trust in him; and all the upright in heart shall glory.

That verse is all inclusive. There is no condition which must be met for the righteous to be glad, to trust in God, or to glory. Just because we are God’s redeemed one is reason enough. Where did the idea come from that conditions need to be just so in order to be glad in the LORD?

2 Corinthians, which I am reviewing, speaks of infirmities of the flesh, and circumstances beyond (Paul’s) control, much more extreme than any I have endured; and the grace of God which is sufficient in all things — these verses speak volumes more to me under my present circumstances than they did before.

Often when I am reviewing verses, their meaning becomes a shade clearer than when I began. Today it was 2 Corinthians 11:28, where Paul mentions his inward cares, with the same concern as the outward circumstances. While Paul’s Caring for the Churches is far from my personal cares, I believe God can receive Glory in Weakness in any of our circumstances.

Lovely Lupine yesterday morning

Lovely Lupine yesterday morning

The hymn today is what prompted me to write this Off the Cuff post. Just click the title to read the words of God Will Take Care of You. What a precious message to those of us in precarious circumstances.

Perhaps it is your health, or that of your loved one. Or perhaps you are also in need of employment. Or your children. Or any one of a number of other heartaches which come upon us.

Whatever it is, God has promised to take care of you. He only asks that we trust Him.

God is trustworthy. His words are truth. He cannot go back on his word. Trust Him today. Read His Word and be blessed, my friend.

But when they in their trouble did run unto the LORD GOD of Israel, and sought him, he was found by them.  2 Chronicles 15:4

Be ye strong, therefore, and let not your hands be weak; for your work shall be rewarded.  2 Chronicles 15:7
