LIST OF ALL LISTS – Part 8 {social media}

Twitter Direct Campaign #1  — (drum roll, please) — FINAL LIST of SUPPORTERS.  It started with the first 1000 Twitter followers.  Of the first 1000, there were 838 MUTUAL FOLLOWERS.  The next level was the RESPONDERS, just over 400.  Then the ENGAGERS, somewhere around 200, and the TWEETERS numbered 130.

If it sounds complicated, it is, but it worked!  Once I got started, I just didn’t want to stop.  The goals were written on April 23, 2014.  The only one that changed was the beginning number was somewhat larger than the original (500).  After that it just kept flowing.

The best piece of this ‘project’ is getting to know people through social media.  The people who made it to the SUPPORTER group, are there because 1) they love using Twitter, and 2) they are friendly.

That is not to say that people who did not make it are not good users of social media or unfriendly.  I have made friends with a number of people who didn’t make the list, with whom I continue to Tweet.  The lists each had specific criteria, and were not done scientifically but did provide enough of a guideline for consistency, so that the most interactive people made the SUPPORTER list.

Looking back at the last level of the campaign:

The breakdown at the TWEETER level is as follows:  (totals 138 — a couple extra snuck in)

The breakdown at the SUPPORTER level is as follows:  (totals 49)

  • AUTHORS               21
  • BLOGGERS             13
  • TWEETERS             12
  • NATURE LOVERS   3

The categories have changed since this began.  As I look began Twitter Direct Tweet Campaign #2 the categories were reduced to AUTHORS, BLOGGERS, TWEETERS, PHOTOGRAPHY (a mixed list of followers and not followers), INFLUENCERS, PUBLISHERS, and NATURE LOVERS, the first three being the biggest.

The WRITING category was eliminated.  Those people are now either AUTHORS or BLOGGERS.  Congratulations to those of you who have become published authors in the past year!!   The BUSINESS category was eliminated.  Those people are BLOGGERS if they have a website, TWEETERS if not.

The AUTHOR group started off with 264 people in it.  There were 161 in the WRITERS/WRITING group.  The BLOGGER group had 138 people in it.  There were 116 JUST TWEETERS.  We started with 15 PHOTO/GENEALOGISTS and 17 NATURE LOVERS, 13 BUSINESSES, 15 SOCIAL MEDIA (that group interestingly did not respond well), and 75 INFLUENCERS (also interesting).

Percentage of beginning group that made this SUPPORTER list:

  • AUTHORS:     7.9%
  • BLOGGERS    9.4%
  • TWEETERS   10.3%
  • NATURE LOVERS  17.6%
  • INFLUENCERS   0
  • PHOTOGRAPHERS  0
  • PUBLISHERS  0

I’ll let you draw your own conclusions.  As I said earlier, this was not a scientifically done campaign.  And I will refrain from writing any conclusions, as that was not the purpose.

The overall percentage of SUPPORTERS from the original group of MUTUAL FOLLOWERS is 49/838, which is 5.8%.  Makes me wonder why we gather such large numbers of followers?

TWITTER DIRECT TWEET CAMPAIGN #2 is under way.  It is for my mutual followers up to 1500.  Of course the numbers change as people unfollow.  The total number of people is 613 currently.  The 3rd campaign will be 1500 – 2000.

The end goal is to compile the categories from the three groups, as well as the end groups of SUPPORTERS.  We’ll see who gives up first — Twitter or me!

So if you’re not on the list, please don’t feel badly, just keep tweeting me and sending me your tweets.  If you haven’t gotten a #SHOUTOUT it may be I haven’t gotten to you yet — you’re on the list!
