Inspiring Hymns #248

A Child of the King

My Father is rich in houses and lands, He holdeth the wealth of the world in His hands!  Of rubies and diamonds, of silver and gold, His coffers are full, He has riches untold.

My Father’s own Son, the Saviour of men, once wandered on earth as the poorest of them;  But now He is pleading our pardon on high, that we may be His when He comes by and by.

I once was an outcast stranger on earth, a sinner by choice, and an alien by birth;  But I’ve been adopted, my name’s written down, an heir to a mansion, a robe, and a crown.

A tent or a cottage, why should I care?  They’re building a palace for me over there;  Tho’ exiled from home, yet, still I may sing:  All glory to God, I’m a child of the King.

Chorus:  I’m a child of the King, a child of the King:  with Jesus my Saviour I’m a child of the King.

Words:  Hattie E. Buell

Music:  Rev. John B. Summer, alt.

Thank you! The verse is moving to yesterday’s post because there was a bit of a mixup – wrong verse on wrong day. “A fool hath no delight in understanding, but that his heart may discover itself.” Proverbs 18:2

Thank you for your feedback. Amazing how God’s Word rings so true today, isn’t it? Human nature hasn’t changed, as much as mankind would like to think it has progressed 🙂 So thankful God provided His Son to take my punishment in my place.

Thank you, this is also a great verse. It is absolutely amazing – and yes I believe nature will always stay the same however much the world moves into a more modern era. I am also grateful for this every day… 🙂
