heart hiding, Scripture Memorization

Bountiful Reaping{heart hiding 15/33}

Bountiful Reaping {heart hiding 15/33}.  Heart Hiding is hiding God’s Word in our heart by memorizing whole books of Scripture.  To read more go to the Heart Hiding page.

This is Week 33 of Heart Hiding, memorizing 2 Corinthians 6-10.  How are you doing, my friend?  Don’t be discouraged.  Just keep working at it, and don’t give up.  God will reward your faithfulness to His Word.

I press forward, knowing God will bless.  Only when we quit is He unable to bless us!  Our part is to show up and participate, leaving the results with Him.

This is Week 33 of Heart Hiding, memorizing 2 Corinthians 6-10, we are memorizing verses 5 and 6 of chapter 9, where Paul talks about reaping what we sow:

5 Therefore I thought it necessary to exhort the brethren, that they would go before unto you, and make up beforehand your bounty, whereof ye had notice before, that the same might be ready, as a matter of bounty, and not as of covetousness.

6 But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully.

2 Corinthians 9:5-6

While the principle here is certainly true, that he who gives more gets more, the emphasis is on the giving, not the getting.  I firmly believe Paul is not preaching a prosperity gospel.  What are your thoughts?

Don’t forget to review the previous weeks’ verses 🙂

The key to memorization is review!

Review 2 Corinthians 6:1-18; 7:1-16; 8:1-24; 9:1-4.

Have a great week working on these verses.  See you next Sunday.  God bless.

    Hi Joyce, I agree. We don’t give to get. We give because Jesus said so. He teaches us to love and to give because faith works through love (Galatians 5:6) – an outward expression of the faith in our heart. I think Paul is teaching generosity. Paul also encouraged working so one might have something to give (Ephesians 4:28). Generosity seems to come up a lot throughout Proverbs, too. If Jesus teaches us to love and give unconditionally and generously (Luke 6:30-38), why would we love/give based on expecting something in return (prosperity)? Maybe generosity is so important so we don’t cling to things/money so tightly and thus face the temptation of them coming before the Lord in our heart. If we can learn to part with things/money freely, maybe this helps keep the Lord in His proper first place in our lives.
