heart hiding, Scripture Memorization

Be ye Separate {heart hiding 15/7}

Be ye Separate {heart hiding 15/7}.  Heart Hiding is hiding God’s Word in our heart by memorizing whole books of Scripture.  To read more go to the Heart Hiding page.

This is Week 7 of Heart Hiding, memorizing 2 Corinthians 6-10,

And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols?  for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.

Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you.

And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.

2 Corinthians 6:16-18

Now these are not my words, they are the apostle Paul’s words, inspired by the Holy Spirit of God.  He says that the believer in Christ is the temple of the living God, inhabited by the Lord God Almighty, and therefore should be separate from ‘them’ and from the ‘unclean thing’.  The phrase comes to mind “in the world, but not of the world”.

Don’t forget to review the previous weeks’ verses 🙂

The key to memorization is review!

Review 2 Corinthians 6:1-15.

Have a great week working on these verses.  See you next Sunday.  God bless.

    Hi Joyce, my challenge has been reconciling these verses you mention with 1 Corinthians 5, specifically verses 9-13. Also, 2 John 1:9-11. And how to put it all into practice when it comes to fulfilling the Great Commission that Jesus gives to share the Gospel. I have such a burden in my heart for evangelism; it’s just real strong in my heart.

    I have prayed over it and studied it and continue praying over it as situations change and for discernment. We know God is not the author of confusion, so I am just certain the Lord will make things clear. I want to live a holy life that is pleasing to God and don’t want to compromise my witness in any way!

      These verses in chapter six are talking about being ‘yoked together’, as in a marriage or a business or some other contract binding relationship. It doesn’t mean we can’t evangelize. And the manner in which we evangelize is left to our individual discernment.

      Personally, I think a Christian should stand out in a crowd as being different, and not blend in, generally speaking. Not that we have to wear a box over our head, but our words and attitude and desires will be different from those of the unbeliever. Jesus certainly did not avoid the sinner, and I’m sure he stood out in a crowd while he shared the Gospel 🙂

      I do wonder what “touch not the unclean thing” is equivalent to …

      But, bottom line, God looks on our heart and our motives, which you clearly have well in hand, Karen.

      Thanks so much for your comment, and for making us think beyond the obvious.
