Overmuch Sorrow and Heart Hiding {Week 16}

This is the second of two  Heart Hiding posts this week.  By the calendar it is Week 30.  I am running just a tad behind, but that’s okay.  I am enjoying Paul’s letter to Corinth.  I’m working on Week 21 — need to catch up in my posting!

How about you?  How is your memorization going?

This is week 16 of  Heart Hidingwhere we are memorizing 2 Corinthians 1-5.  Week 16 continues with Paul’s concern about causing grief to others.  He says that if any have caused grief, we ought rather to forgive and give comfort, lest they be overcome with sorrow.  The effect of causing grief is sorrow in our own heart, and the loss of friends.

But if any have caused grief, he hath not grieved me, but in part:  that I may not overcharge you all.

Sufficient to such a man is this punishment, which was inflicted of many.

So that contrariwise ye ought rather to forgive him, comfort him, lest perhaps such a one should be swallowed up with overmuch sorrow.

2 Corinthians 2:5-7

How much better to keep our complaining between ourselves and God, than to lose friends over it.  Of course our true friends will forgive and offer comfort, as Paul suggests.  I love the word picture of being swallowed up with sorrow!

As I have mentioned before, I have my verses in Scripture Typer, which reminds me to review previously learned portions on a regular basis.  I find that I often need more frequent review for better retention.

How about you?  Do you review one chapter at a time, or the whole book?  I focus on the current chapter, reviewing almost daily, and previous chapters as time allows.

trusting God and Heart Hiding, scripture memorization

The heart hiding {Scripture Memorization} page was updated recently.  You may want to check it out.  It is located  under the BIBLE tab, which is under the WORSHIP tab, which is just below the header (WordWorks).  The heart hiding page now has every heart hiding post linked to it, so that you no longer have to scroll through them all (and wait for them to load).

If you have a moment to share with others how God is using His Word in your life,

we would all be blessed and encouraged.

This is Week 16 of Heart Hiding, Scripture memorization, which will be posted on Sundays throughout 2014.   In case you missed  the previous posts, you can find them here:
