  • PART TWO {11.25.2013}     – Chronological Narrative Books
  • PART THREE {12.2.2013}   – Proverbs
  • PART FOUR {12.9.2013}     – Psalms
  • PART FIVE {12.16.2013}     –  Letters
  • PART SIX  {12.23.2013}      –  JANUARY 2014 Bible Reading Schedule

Proverbs is where this whole idea began.  I wondered how it would be to read one proverb a day and try to soak it in during the day.  A proverb is a maxim to live by, is it not?  A practical bit of wisdom.  An idea separate from the next.  Meant to be meditated upon.

The book of Proverbs is long.  To break it down this way will necessitate more than one year.  In fact only the first nine chapters will be done in the first year.  The second year will be Proverbs 10-24, and it will take about five months of the third year to finish the book.

The first nine chapters will be one passage per week.  Proverbs 10-24 will be one verse per day, with a few exceptions.

That being said, in the month of January we will be reading and meditating on Proverbs 1:1-2:9.  My plan is to do this six days a week, Monday through Saturday.  The weekly schedule is as follows:

  • Week One:  Proverbs 1:1-6
  • Week Two:  Proverbs 1:7-19
  • Week Three:  Proverbs 1:20-27
  • Week Four:  Proverbs 1:28-30
  • Week Five:  Proverbs 2:1-9

What I plan to do is print out the passage (which will later be one verse) for the week.  These will be pasted into a pocket calendar or notebook (or moleskin) so as to be portable.  You might want to have them handy on your smartphone or other tablet.  I do not as yet own one.  This is the same method used for my Scripture memorization (in addition to Scripture Typer).

Each month the schedule for the month will be added to a pdf file which will be available for printing.  I will also make the weekly passages available for printing.  You may wish to find your own if you use a different version of the Bible.

So, let’s get going, shall we?  🙂  New adventures are surely exciting, are they not?!
