A Light To My Path

Listening to Maranatha Singers, singing along with Thy Word, it dawned on me that I was singing Scripture — Psalm 119:105

Thy Word is a lamp unto my feet,

and a light unto my path.

Another great way to memorize Scripture is to sing it.  Somewhere recently I saw tunes for the purpose of memorizing Scripture.

I started at this site which people wrote in their favorite sites for Scripture songs.

I recommend the second site for the following, hence the brackets.  The second site is easier to use than the Heritage Music site.

{Here’s an amazing free download from Heritage Music of Tirzah Joy singing the entire book of I Peter.  There are other entire chapters as well.  Not for the musically faint of heart!  I’m not sure if I could learn it that way, but once I got it fairly well learned it might be helpful.  It’s very well done.}

  • Here’s another site where Tirzah Joy’s music is freely downloadable.
  • The first album is called My Hope.  That is where I Peter is.
  • Here’s the album My Sword which has the book of Ephesians set to music.  Wow!  I’ll keep looking.
  • My Meditation has the book of James, among other chapters, particularly Psalms, and hymns.
  • My Offering is just songs.  My Treasures are Psalms and songs.

I pinned one of these on my Singing Unto the Lord board on Pinterest.  All of her music is free to download.

How wonderful it would be to have a ‘psalter’ {a hymnal} of the Pauline epistles to be sung!  Hmmm….so many ideas!

Oh my, I had no idea there was so much available, and people are so wiling to share!  Here’s a site called Free Bible Music with four artists from which to choose.

I sampled one by musician Buddy Davis, who works closely with the Creation Museum in Kentucky.  He sings and plays the guitar.  I listened to Col. 3:1-3.  He has shorter passages.  Very nicely done, the one I listened to.

Here’s another with free downloadable MP3 music.  You can also purchase the music on CD.  It’s called Scripture Songs.

This appears to be the entire 119th Psalm set to music, on a CD for sale by Crown and Covenant Publications.  I would love to memorize that!  Such lofty goals…

Believe it or not, that is the end of the list from that one post!  I don’t know about you, but that’s enough for one day for me.  I basically only shared KJV because that is what I use.  Some of them have a variety.  There are others who use NIV or ESV.  Happy hunting!

I hope this has given you some encouragement in your memorization of God’s Word.  It sure has given me a nudge!
